Sumy State University is situated in the city Sumy, in the northeast region of Ukraine. From being founded in 1948, the university has risen through the ranks to become a leading classical type university in Ukraine, with a level IV accreditation in the local region. As a Ukrainian State University, Sumy State University prioritizes research and hands-on learning, focuses on creating complete international awareness and orientation, and incorporates a comprehensive style of management and learning. It is classified as a university with intensive focus on research according to the QS World University Rankings, and enters their TOP-group (i.e. 3%) of the leading universities in the world. Sumy State University offers a myriad variety of programmes and degrees, ranging across different educational levels as well as domains of knowledge. Sumy State University holds a leading position for number of citations in the scholarly community, and cooperates with over 260 college partners from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, etc. Subsequently they have also developed multiple collaborative projects for international grant programmes for the EU, UNDP, British Council, World Bank, etc. Their academic staff includes Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, 670 PhD candidates, and 150 Doctors of Science and Professors – Sumy State University employs about 3000 teaching and research staff in total.
