The University of Burgos is a non-profit public institution of higher learning in the Spanish city of Burgos. Founded on May 26th, 1994, it has a historical connection with the University of Valladolid that goes back to the 13th century. It boasts of a rich list of 30 undergraduate degrees, more than twenty diverse PhD programmes along with recognised postgraduate and short-term courses. The cross-cultural and lively university campus is home to nearly 10,000 students, local and international. After its separation from Valladolid, the University of Burgos has steadily gained recognition as one of Spain’s most respected higher educational institutions. The University has five academic centres namely, sciences, law, humanities and arts, business and economics and a polytechnic school. It boasts of two campuses with San Amaro campus in the west of Burgos and Rio Vena campus in the north of the city. Additionally, the university also has two other facilities, for instance, the Hospital de la Conception and a residential/educational complex called Miguel Delibes. Even though the university owns this complex, the public is also allowed to use it. The campus is the site of the proto-gothic Hospital Del Rey from 1195 which was built during the Renaissance period.
