The University of Balamand is a private non-profit higher education institution situated in Lebanon. It was founded in 1988 and is inspired by the Antiochian Christian Orthodox Church tradition. The university promotes the welfare of the society and values of compassion, tolerance, and openness. The university does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, sex, nationality or physical disability. It believes that application is of utmost importance for lifelong learning and therefore, offers hands-on theoretical application, relevant training and practical knowledge in their particular areas. The University of Balamand is a forward-thinking institution that encourages scholars and graduates to ask unconventional questions and enhance intercultural dialogue in Lebanon and the Arab World. The Board of Trustees of the university comprises of 34 members. The university offers 69 majors, 55 undergraduate and 57 postgraduate degrees in the subjects of Arts and Sciences, Business and Management, Engineering, Health Sciences, Technology, and Medicine. Majority of the programs are conducted in English following the American System of Education. In addition to this, the University of Balamand offers 28 medical speciality degree programs, 13 Teaching diplomas and 3 university diplomas. Over 5,700 students are currently enrolled in the university.
