University College Dublin was established as a public university in the year 1854 in the city of Dublin in Ireland. UCD was initially established as the Catholic University of Ireland, and later on, it was named as the University College Dublin. This university is regarded as one of the best research universities in Dublin. The total area covered by the campus of the university is 133 hectares. UCD is broadly categorised into six colleges, namely, UCD College of Arts & Humanities, UCD College of Engineering & Architecture, UCD College of Business, UCD Health & Agricultural Sciences, UCD College of Science, and UCD College of Social Sciences & Law. These aforementioned colleges provide numerous disciplines for students to choose from. Consequently, UCD has a large student population of approximately 30,000, out of which around 8,000 students belong to over 138 different countries. In 2019, the QS World Rankings places this college at 193rd position globally, while the Times Higher Education ranks it at 234th place globally. UCD has produced notable graduates in the fields of business, sports, politicians, artists, and writers, such as, Niall Fitzgerald (Unilever's former CEO and chairman), Kevin Moran (soccer player for Manchester United), Patrick Hillery (Former President of Ireland), V.V.
