Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México or Autonomous University of Mexico State is the largest consolidated institution in the state with its central campus in the state capital of Toluca. The university was established in 1828 as Instituto Literario del Estado de México (Literary Institute of the State of Mexico) in the former state capital of Tlalpan. The institution aims to generate and extend universal knowledge to students for their growth and development. The university offers undergraduate programs in 9 different fields of study including Mathematics, Social Sciences, Engineering and Education among other things. Moreover, there are a smaller number of master’s as well as doctoral degree courses available across a narrower band of subjects.UAEMex has hosted distinguished philosophers, academic and poets of Mexican nations. Its campus has the largest student population and there are other 9 campuses with access to a wide variety of different academic facilities. Other than this, there are various joint research and student exchange programs conducted by the university both inside and outside Mexico. Various recreational and intramural sports activities such as rugby, volleyball, baseball, soccer and flag football are also available for students.
