History, Affiliations and Rankings
Trinity Western University (TWU) is a Christian University of the arts, sciences, and professions, legislated by British Columbia to serve the public in 1962 and has grown to become Canada’s premier Christian University and the largest Liberal Arts University in the country. It aims to develop positive and goal-oriented minds with all academic programs oriented with a “whole-person education” approach. Accredited by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, the University is also recognized by the US Department of Education. TWU is the only university to maintain its A+ ranking in Quality of Teaching and Learning for seven consecutive years, out of 57 universities. According to data released by multiple League Tables for 2021, Trinity Western ranks at 203rd place in Global World University Rankings and at 16th position among QS World University Subject Ranking.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Trinity Western University has three campuses based in Langley, Richmond and Ottawa. The main campus of the University at Langley is spread across 157 acres and is minutes away from the mountains, the ocean and the city of Vancouver. TWU Richmond offers tailored programs for an urban, international cohort across two locations in Richmond and Metro Vancouver. Further, the University’s Laurentian Leadership Centre in Ottawa offers a one-semester academic internship to upper-level undergraduates enrolled at the University. Trinity Western is structured into 8 Academic Faculties and Schools offering a range of programs in numerous study areas including, Humanities, Sciences, Business, Interdisciplinary Studies, Sports-related subjects and Arts. Also, at this University, students can benefit from multiple study abroad opportunities, summer schools and professional development programs.
Accomplishments and Alumni
According to Maclean’s Magazine, Trinity Western University consistently emerges as Canada’s top two Universities for Educational Experience to the National Survey of Student Engagement. According to statistics, 96% of the students who vote for Trinity Western University have met or exceeded their expectations and around 96% would recommend the University based on the type of environment and education it provides. It also showed that 97% of students are satisfied with their decision to attend Trinity. With an alumni network of 30,000+ spanning the globe, the University has a history of producing notable graduates in several fields such, Entertainment, Politics, Business and more. The alumni list of this university is very long and dynamic. Some of them are – Carolyn Arends (Musician, Songwriter, and Author), Jonathan Auxier (Children’s Author), Tara Teng (Miss World Canada 2012) and Roger Cross (Television and Screen Actor).
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
Trinity Western University has one of the most diverse and vibrant student communities in Canada. Of the total student population, 45% of students are Canadian, 6% come from the USA and 49% of them comprise the International student body on the campus. To provide a holistic education experience to the students, Trinity Western has numerous International partner universities in Austria, France, Japan and other countries, where the students are offered study abroad opportunities and cultural exchange options. The University also connects the student community with corporate partners.
