History, Affiliations and Rankings

In 1946, the institution was founded as an Emergency Teacher Training College in the aftermath of WWII. In 1992, the Institution and Coventry University reached an agreement for the validation of the Institution's degree courses. The Privy Council granted the institution degree-awarding rights for all of its taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and as a result, University College Worcester was established in 1997. In 2005, UCW was granted full university status and given the name University of Worcester. Under the Police Reform Act of 2002, the University of Worcester is one of just a few universities in the country to receive accreditation. The University has been placed in the top three in the UK for Quality Education. In all three years of the rankings, the University has been ranked first in England for Gender Equality. Worcester has been nominated three times for Times Higher Education's University of the Year – in 2016, 2019, and 2020 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

St John's Campus, City Campus, and Severn Campus, as well as the neighboring Lakeside Campus, are the three main campuses of the university. The Severn Campus is strategically located between St John's and City Campus, making for a nice 20-minute walk between the two. The University's largest campus is St John's, while the City Campus is home to The Hive, the University's award-winning £60 million libraries, and the Severn Campus is home to the University Arena, Britain's first major indoor sports arena specifically built to meet the needs of wheelchair and able-bodied athletes. The university offers many undergraduate and graduate degrees in various disciplines. Some of the popular areas of study at the university are Art & Design, Business & Law, Computing, Education, Healthcare and Humanities.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The University of Worcester is a close-knit, high-achieving environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The institution was named Sustainability Institution of the Year Winner-2019 at the Green Gown Awards. They seek to assist people of all backgrounds and abilities in realizing their full potential, from building inventive facilities to offering practical support and specialized instruction. They strive hard to knock down barriers and open doors for everyone. In the 2020 National Student Survey, 85 per cent of Worcester final-year students stated they were satisfied overall, which is higher than the national average of 83.2 percent and places the university among the best in the Midlands. At Worcester, fourteen courses achieved perfect scores. The university has a prestigious network of alumni all around the world. Some of the notable names are Rob Taylor, English former footballer, Matthew Raggett, British author and Imogen Thomas, Welsh model.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

In 2019-20, there were 10,179 students enrolled, with around 82.5 percent of them enrolled in an undergraduate program. Approximately 16 percent of students are enrolled in postgraduate taught programs, whereas 1.5 percent are enrolled in a postgraduate research program. Female students make up 69.1 percent of the student body. The university’s career services department works tirelessly to help students in grabbing opportunities throughout the year. Sanctuary, BT, West Midlands Fire Service, DRPG and Deloitte are the top employers of university graduates.
