What if I'm a non-accredited high school graduate?

Accepted Answer

If you graduated from a non-accredited high school, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will assess your application on an individual basis. This evaluation will consider students' whole academic record, including ACT/SAT scores, curriculum and grades, application essay, school/community service, and class rank.

Are my AP, IB, or CLEP exams used in the admissions process?

Accepted Answer

No. While you can use AP, IB, or CLEP credit toward your degree, these examinations will not count toward admission.

Question 3

I am a high school student with college hours. Am I a freshman or a transfer student?

Accepted Answer

A transfer student is a student who has completed credit hours after high school graduation. You must achieve freshman entrance standards and have a 2.0 GPA in transferred coursework if you are in high school and have dual credit hours.

Question 4

Is it necessary for me to send a letter of recommendation?

Accepted Answer

A Letter of Recommendation is not required at Texas State. If you do decide to send one, make sure it has the applicant's entire legal name, date of birth, and home address.

Question 5

Is the ACT or SAT preferred for admission to Texas State?

Accepted Answer

Texas State does not favour one test over the other for admission purposes and will accept either. There is no combining or super-scoring of test subscores. To assess admission eligibility, the best composite score from a single sitting will be used. Please note that the old SAT score used in their initial review (taken before March 2016) is the total of the Critical Reading and Maths portions only. For admissions consideration, an ACT/SAT Writing component score is encouraged but not needed.
