The Technical University of Liberec is situated in Liberec, Czech Republic. Earlier known as the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the university has gone through immense transformation in the last 60 years. Originally, the classrooms of the university were located in the attics of the F X Salda Grammar School. Later, these classrooms were used as accommodation for teachers. On October 1, 1953, the first batch comprising of 259 students enrolled at the university.
The university has a total of seven faculties and one specialized institute, namely- Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,Faculty of Textile Engineering, Faculty Of Science- Humanities and Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatica and Interdisciplinary Studies
Faculty of Health Studies, Institute of Nanomaterials, and Advanced Technologies and Innovation.
A plethora of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs are offered in the field of Humanities, Science and Engineering are offered at the university. Since 2012, the Institute for Nanomaterials and Advanced Technologies and Innovation has been part of the university and have 19 specialized laboratories which aim at contributing towards regional development. Their research programs offered in the field of Material Research, Nanomaterials and Engineering.
