A historically rich institution of higher learning, the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is a public research university focused on imparting high-quality technical education. It was established in 1937 and since its formation, it has established itself as a household name in Slovakia. It has a total graduate statistic of over 159,000 students, international and local. In the Academic ranking of World Universities , 2012, the university was placed in the 101-150 bracket in the field of computer science. Further, it has also been certified with the ECTS label, a symbol of excellence awarded by the European Commission. Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is bifurcated into two campuses, the main Bratislava campus and the Trnava campus. The university seven specialised faculties which offer a plethora of wide-ranging and accredited courses in the categories of bachelor’s , master’s and doctoral. These faculties include the faculty of chemical engineering, two distinct faculties of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, a faculty of chemical and food technology, faculty of architecture, materials science and technology, faculty of informatics and information technologies and a dedicated institute of management. It is a proud member of the European network of institutions, the Erasmus programme as well as of other international agreements and student-mobility programs.
