Originally named as Technical School of Engineers when it was formed in 1859, the Polytechnic University of Turin acquired its current name in 1906. With time, it has become an established name in the field of Engineering and Architectural Research, Innovation and Propagation, both in Italy and overseas. It has been ranked within the top 50 of the world universities in subjects of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Mineral Engineering by the QS Ranking in 2019. It draws more than 35,000 students from over 100 countries across the globe for its 22 undergraduate, 28 postgraduate programmes and several PhD programmes. Further, around 20 English-taught specializations are offered as part of the university course catalogue. The Polytechnic University of Turin’s course curriculum aims to provide not only technical education and knowhow but along with it, it strives to prepare individuals who are proficient in problem analysis and solving and are efficient critical thinkers. Its commitment towards holistic teaching and learning methods can be gauged from the fact that it has managed to build around 463 partnerships with other international institutions, research organisations and industries and its partner countries spread across all continents. It is also an integral part of the pan-European Erasmus Mundus programmes.
