About the University
History, Affiliations and Rankings
Founded in 1904, Oklahoma City University traces its roots back to the small Epworth University, which was later expanded into a Methodist University to invest in the development of the local community. From about 100 students in its first year, Oklahoma City University today has an enrollment of 2300+ undergraduate and graduate students. A young and innovative University with a modern, metropolitan setting, it is particularly known for its world-class education in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Oklahoma City University is a private Methodist University, which is affiliated with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the International Association of Methodist-relates Schools, Colleges and Universities (IAMSCU) and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). Consistently ranked as a top-tier University, it ranks #239 in the National Universities rankings released by US News and World Report 2022.
