NorQuest College, one of the most renowned community college, was established in 1965 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Started as Alberta Vocational Center Edmonton, the center consists of four academic upgrading classrooms, a barber shop, a beauty culture lab, a space housing 60 business education students and a welding and equipment maintenance shop. It was established with an aim to provide the untrained and under-employed Albertans with the opportunity to develop skills required in an industrialized workforce. As the number of students and demand increased, the government of Alberta and the center’s administration decided to construct a main building in Downtown, Edmonton in 1970. As the center was moved to Downtown, it started adding programs and developing the existing programs to meet the educational needs of the students and workforce in the market. In 1990, the name of Alberta Vocational Centre was changed to Alberta Vocational College in 1990. In 1999, after becoming public board-governed institution, the name of the college was again changed to NorQuest College and in the same year, college few more tutorial centers in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. NorQuest College has three major faculties including the Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning, the Faculty of Heath and Community Studies and the Faculty of Business Environment and Technology. It offers diploma programs, certificate courses and preparatory courses in Environment protection, Accounting technician, Business Administration, Addictions and Mental Health, Justice, Disability, Hospital Unit Clerk, Dental Nursing, Pharmacy technician, Therapy assistant, Veterinary, English as a second language, Academic Upgrading and many others. Not just this, NorQuest College also has the Center for Intercultural Education, International Education, Center for Growth and Harmony, Learner Center and Landmark Group Center for Value Improvement. These centers introduce many short term and long term programs time to time. Today, NorQuest College has a main campus which is situated on Street NW in Downtown, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Apart from this, NC has three regional campuses in each of Drayton Valley, Wetaskiwin, and Whitecourt and two correctional institute campuses in the Edmonton area including the Edmonton Remand Centre and the Fort Saskatchewan. There are around 17,592 fulltime and part time students enrolled in the NorQuest College with the academic staff of 800 members.
