A public university, the National Yang Ming University is a research based university which was promoted to the current status in the year 1994. It is considered as the first comprehensive medicine-oriented university of Taiwan. This was followed by the establishment of the School of Life Sciences, the Center of General Studies, the School of Medical Technology and Engineering and the School of Nursing. The School of Dentistry was permitted and established in the year 2000. The university has numerous campuses including in Beitou District, Taiwan, Shipai and Taipei. The university houses a total of 6 schools which includes 5 medical and life sciences related schools. It has about 70 sister universities around the world, establishing successful relations with global institutions. The university also offers students recreational and extra curricular activity centres including a library, a hillside stadium, gymnasium, a swimming pool and a surface stadium. The dormitories and the medical laboratories have state of the art facilities for a better experience of the students.
