Situated in Saxton, Anhalt,Germany,Martin Luther University of Halle,Wittenberg also known as MLU is a public,research oriented university which was founded in 1502 as the University of Wittenberg . It was later merged with Friedrichs University Halle in 1817.The university focuses on high quality education which can be accessible to all. It follows the catholic tradition of social justice and acknowledges the power of a community and relationships.
The key feature of MLU is its pedagogical profile in various fields. It offers a wide range of academic subjects in the areas of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and medicine.The courses are developed in such a manner that inculcates transferable skills which are useful for study or employment in the future.In addition to its main academic focuses, the university offers a range of minor subjects, some of which are only offered in Germany at MLU.It also cooperates closely with other universities, and with external research institutes and industries. Other than the Weinberg campus,MLU has three other main locations.Locked in the heart of campus is the University Square, which is considered as one of the most attractive squares in Europe and it is a plat in Halle that is imbued with heritage. Numerous institutes focusing on the humanities and Social Sciences are located on the new Steintor Campus.Teachers and Scholars teach,study and conduct research at the Francke Foundations.
