History, Affiliations and Rankings

Medicine Hat College is a public community college established under the Alberta Post-secondary Learning Act. It employs a unique approach of providing skill-based training in accordance with industry demands. It also provides apprenticeship opportunities and continuing education programs which aim to benefit students across all backgrounds and ages.

Campus, Courses and Infrastructure

Classes are conducted at two different campuses with the main campus at Medicine Hat and a complimentary Brooks campus. The main campus is where close to 95% of students are enrolled. Primary areas of study include: Science and Technology, Health and Human Services, Visual and Performing Arts, Business and Commerce and Liberal Arts, amongst others. Recently, it also added applied degrees in Ecotourism and Visual Communications

Accomplishments and Alumni

Its diplomas, certificates, and applied courses are geared towards the aim of opening quick and rewarding avenues of career development. Its student-centred approach incorporates classes of small sizes, long-running student support, personal and social development, cultural services, residence services, counselling and recreational programs.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

There are a total of 8,000 students enrolled across a plethora of short and long term courses. International students studying at the campus hail from countries like China, India, Japan and Philippines with Indian student population significantly higher than the rest. The university is also a member of Campus Alberta which is an association of postsecondary learning institutions.
