Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) was founded in 1956 and is the oldest non-profit professional institute of lifelong learning in Singapore. It has two main subsidiaries: MDIS International Pvt Ltd, which looks after MDIS's Globalisation strategy and Management Development Institute of Singapore Pte Ltd which focuses on its academic operations in Singapore. The University offers internationally- acclaimed programmes in collaboration with renowned universities of UK and USA , some of the courses offered include- Information Technology, Life Sciences, Mass Communications, Business and Management, Engineering, Fashion and Design, Health and Nursing, Psychology, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Safety and Environmental Management. The University believes in giving back to society hence the MDIS Education Trust Fund supports deserving students facing problems with financial aid, they have awarded 8000 scholarships to date since its inauguration in 1999. Vested equally in corporate training, they setup he Management Development and Consultancy, MDIS’ corporate training arm, in 1995 to cater to workforce’s training needs. To diversify in training solutions, they acquired Service Quality Centre in 2014. MDIS prides itself of providing education and training services to the nation, the S$35 million campus in Stirling Road is a testament to this, it occupies 3 hectares land and has well equipped classrooms, computer laboratories (five), life sciences laboratories (four), fashion studios (three) psychology laboratory, a media hub (TV and radio studios), a hospitality training centre, a nursing practicum laboratory, as well as a bakery and culinary studio. The campus also boats of an Amphitheatre for house art performance and other such events along with well- equipped sports facilities like badminton courts, the campus is also technologically competent and is wi-fi enabled.
