One of the most renowned public based research-oriented universities in the UK is none other than The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The University primarily focuses on postgraduate and research-oriented programs in the field of medicine and healthcare science. The University was founded in 1899 as the London School of Tropical Medicine by Sir Patrick Manson after he received a handsome donation from an Indian Parsi and philanthropist BD Petit. In 1924, it got the name of London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine which was given and established by the Royal Charter. Since its inception, the LSHTM has risen to the top of international rankings in the fields of public health and infectious diseases.
