One of the most renowned public based research-oriented universities in the UK is none other than The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The University primarily focuses on postgraduate and research-oriented programs in the field of medicine and healthcare science. The University was founded in 1899 as the London School of Tropical Medicine by Sir Patrick Manson after he received a handsome donation from an Indian Parsi and philanthropist BD Petit. In 1924, it got the name of London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine which was given and established by the Royal Charter.
