Based in the Hyogo region of Japan, Kobe University, a public university, was established in the year 1949 formally. However, the roots are considered to be dated back to 1902 when the university was formerly known as the Kobe Higher Commercial School. The university is considered as one of the largest universities in Japan with maximum international students hailing from Asia which is followed by students from Europe, then by students from Africa and finally a few from the Latin-American regions. The university houses 11 undergraduate faculties and 14 graduate schools over 4 campuses. The Rokkodai campus is considered as the main campus and is home to 11 faculties. The other campuses include Myodani campus, Kusunoki campus and the Fukae campus.
The university offers scholarships to the meritorious and needful students which includes the Hyogo Prefecture Private Foriegn Student Scholarship, the Japanese Government Scholarship System, etc. The Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation is the first independent multidisciplinary graduate schools of Japan.
