Founded in 1856, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is a public liberal arts university and initially commenced as the Hong Kong Baptist College and attained university status in the 1990s. The motto of HKBU is “Faith and Perseverance” and was established by American baptists and still retains the legacy of Christian education. The university is divided into five campuses, out of which three campuses are situated in Kowloon Tong and two others are located in Kwun Tong Road and Shek Mun. Further, Hong Kong Baptist University founded the Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) in the year 2005 in the Zhuhai region of the people’s republic of China. This college is known as the first tertiary education institution established by the partnership of a mainland university and a Hong Kong university. The university provides on-campus accommodation to local as well as international students at the Baptist University campus which is home to four student residence halls as well as the College of International Education which is a key part of the School of Continuing Education.
