Florida International University, a known public research organization, established in the year 1965, is recognized for its unparalleled contribution in the field of research. The main campus of the university, referred to as the University Park, lies in Miami covering an enormous land of 344 acres which comprises of most of the university's affiliated schools and colleges along with the controlling centres of administration, the Frost Art Museum, the International Hurricane Research Center, and several sports-specific grounds and enclosures. The university marks about $200 Million dollar expenditure in annual research activities and houses a Next Horizon campaign to support and promote its objective to introduce its students to "Worlds Ahead" opportunities ensuring a high ratio of success.
Campus, Courses and Infrastructure
FIU offers a wide range of master's degree programs through a variety of schools and colleges including Arts, Sciences and Education, Business, Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Communication, Architecture and the Arts, Engineering and Computing, and Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and Law. The master's degree programs are delivered by renowned faculty members, which equip students with a global perspective.
Accomplishments and Alumni
FIU has been awarded Phi Beta Kappa chapter which is considered to be the greatest academic honour in the United States and has also gained recognition for its successful efforts towards energy conservation and sustainability. Some notable FIU alumni include Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, nominated for his supporting role in The Godfather Part III; and Liz Balmaseda, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist; Mike Lowell, an MLB baseball player; Manny Diaz, 42nd Mayor of Miami; Dennis Lehane, a novelist and screenwriter; Elizabeth Perez, Emmy winning television journalist and presenter.
