Fiji National University was established in 2010 in Fiji. The university came into existence after the merger of six institutes namely the Fiji Institute of Technology, Fiji School of Nursing, Fiji College of Advanced Education, Fiji School of Medicine, Fiji College of Agriculture and Lautoka Teachers College. Though the university was established recently in 2010 but FU has a long history which dates back to 1885 when the several colleges were established with an aim to provide the world class education to Fiji population so that they don’t have to go abroad. Today, Fiji National University has colleges including The College of Business, Hospitality & Tourism Studies, the College of Engineering, Science & Technology, the College of Humanities & Education, The College of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Fiji Institute of Technology, College of Agriculture, Lautoka Teachers College and National Training and Productivity Centre. It offers more than 100 programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. It also offers number of diplomas, certification courses, vocational education training and part time programs. Fiji National University has number of research centers, institutes and labs in all campuses in Fiji which contribute to the scientific and economical development of Fiji. Plus, the centers and institutes allow students to conduct the research study under guidance. Today, Fiji National University has seven campuses including Nasinu Campus, Nadi Campus, Raiwai Campus (Unistudio), Samabula Campus, Lautoka Campus, Sigatoka Campus, Rakiraki Campus, Ba Campus. All campuses have the state-of-the-art facilities to all students. There are around 20,000 students enrolled in Fiji National University with more than 2,000 administrative and 800 academic staff members.
