  • Since 1928, Eastern Kentucky University has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • According to the US World News and Reports Ranking, Eastern Kentucky University was ranked #37 in the list of  Best Graduate School – Occupational Therapy in 2015.
  • Eastern Kentucky University is also regarded for its 3 Star Premier University by Campus Pride for LGBTQ+ student resources and services by Chronicle of Higher Education in 2016.
  • There are around 230 registered student organizations are active at Eastern Kentucky University including Greek chapters, political organizations, the Student Government Association, the EKU BassMasters, EKU Archery Club, Phi Beta Lambda, Cynder's Inn, EKU Kendo Club and the EKU Anime Club
  • One of the oldest student run newspaper, The Eastern Progress, was started in February 1922 and serves as the official student newspaper in Eastern Kentucky University.
  • Eastern Kentucky University also runs WEKU, a national public radio channel which was founded on October 7, 1968 and features NPR news and talk programming, along with Kentucky/Folk music on the weekends.
  • Eastern Kentucky University has its own sports team which compete in NCAA Division I. It is best known for its Football Championship Subdivision football team, which has won 22 OVC conference titles and two Division I-AA National Championships
