Comenius University in Bratislava is among the leading universities of Bratislava, offering several study programs to the students at the three levels of graduation- bachelors level, masters level and doctorate level. Established on 27th June, 1919, it is the oldest university in the Slovak Republic and has scientific institutions and varied departments that are accepted internationally. The university is known to encompass the traditions of The Academia Istropolitana, one of the first universities in Europe, that was founded by Matthias Corvinus, a Hungarian King in 1465 at Bratislava. In 2019, Comenius University is celebrating its 100th anniversary, which marks it commendable presence. The university offers a wide range of subjects and disciplines to choose from. The university runs both domestic and international research projects that can help students in participating in several projects, grants, internships, etc. Every year, the university hosts a number of students from many countries including Germany, Greece, Austria, etc. At present, it accommodates around 24,000 students who are studying under 2,500 university professors and researchers. Furthermore, every year, it welcomes almost 300 students from various countries in several study programs. Most of the students come under the Erasmus + programs.
