History, Affiliations and Rankings
California Lutheran University is a private liberal arts university located in Thousand Oaks, California. The University was established in 1959 and has an affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, but is not related to any religious group. It was started in 1960 as California Lutheran College and was the first art institution in and the first four-year private institute in Ventura County. Its name was changed to California Lutheran University in 1986. California Lutheran ranks #368 in the US College Rankings 2022 by the Times Higher Education and #8 in Regional Universities West by the US News & World Report.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
California Lutheran University has one main campus in Thousand Oaks, California, and four satellite centres in Oxnard, Santa Maria, Westlake Village, and Woodland Hills. The main campus is between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. The main campus has a size of 225 acres with residence halls, academic buildings, an eatery, a gym, and sports equipment. Students at Cal Lutheran have numerous opportunities to chill when they're not studying. The Outdoor Recreation program provides students with experiences like hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities. The city of Thousand Oaks is approximately 40 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and is acknowledged as one of the most desired places to stay and work because of its peaceful and culturally rich setting. California Lutheran University offers a wide range of degrees from UG and PG to professional levels. Students can select from 40 majors and 42 minors such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Interdisciplinary Educational Studies.

The university has a wide alumni network of 30,000 in fields like politics, sports, arts, and education. California Lutheran University values diversity in all its dimensions. Institute has more than 4,000 student enrolments out of which about 2,800 are undergraduates and about 1,400 are postgraduates with more than 435 faculty members on its premises. Of the total student enrolments, more than 200 students are international students on the campus. The Male to female ratio is 43:67 at the California Lutheran University making it a fairly gender-balanced university.
