Bucerius Law School, situated in the heart of Hamburg, Germany, was founded in the year 2000 with a sole purpose of enhancing the contemporary applications of the legal aspects in a current world order. It was an effort to unify the legal research (and practice) and teaching. The Bucerius Law School is named after its founder, Gerd Bucerius, a distinguished German Judge, Attorney, Journalist, Politician and a Publisher of German weekly newspaper, Die Zeit. The Bucerius Law School campus is located at the center of Hamburg. The school is near Hamburg’s trade exhibition center and the Park Planten Un Blomen which creates the environment of peace around the campus. The students studying in Bucerius Law School have access to the University of Hamburg’s resources. The school offers two law degree programs, the Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) and the Master of Law and Business (M.L.B). Apart from these two main courses, Bucerius also offers a doctoral program and four other summer certificate programs which are well regarded by the law students across the globe. The four programs include the International Business Law (2008), International Intellectual Property Transactions (2014) and Legal Technology and Operations (2018). Not just this, the admission in Bucerius Law School is highly competitive where the candidates are enrolled on the basis of special test designed by the notable lawyers and legal experts of the Europe. During the five and a half year of LL. B, students are prepared for the Staatsexaman exam, Germany’s judicial competitive exam. It is designed in such a way that students enrolled in Bucerius Law School focus on German Judicial Exam and then get admitted to Legal Traineeship. Every year, the school admits 116 students across the globe in LL. B program. The MLB program is set for those students who have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of economics, law and business. It is designed to train the international executive to analyze the corporate issue from a legal perspective and expertise. Bucerius Law school has a partnership with 90+ international universities from 30 countries. The student faculty ratio of the school is 25:1 which is far better than public universities in Germany. The school has two publications which are student run: Politik and Becurus Law Journal. Apart from this, the school provides students with a choir, orchestra, theatre group, MUN Society and sports club. The school is ranked #1 when it comes to the Private Law School in Germany by DAAD. The school is also ranked #1 in the best professors, course offerings and foreign exchange program.
