History

University of Algarve was established on the 16th January 1979. It was formed by the union of two pre-existing institutions - the University of Algarve and the Polytechnic Institute of Faro. It has gained immense recognition over the years for the excellence of its research, the quality of its teaching and the close relations it establishes with society.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses 

This university is known to specialise in engineering and biotechnology and has 4 campuses - The Penha Campus, The Gambelas Campus, The Saúde Campus and The Portimão Campus.
