Global Excellence Scholarship

The UWA’s Global Excellence scholarship is available to high-achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students. This is one of the most popular University of Western Australia scholarships. It is a merit-based award. Therefore, you are required to demonstrate academic excellence.

Eligibility 

The Global Excellence scholarship application is open to eligible students. The eligibility criteria for the award are as follows:

• You must have received an offer letter to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at the university 
• Additionally, you must have secured a minimum ATAR 85.00; or a minimum WAM 65.00, or its equivalent.
• Those taking up an approved International Academic Pathway program must secure a WAM equivalent of more than 75.00. 

Benefits

The benefits of the Global Excellence Scholarship are as follows:

• Obtain a scholarship amount up to  AUD$48,00 for 4 years (undergraduate applicants), or
• An amount up to AUD$24,000 for 2 years for an eligible postgraduate program.

This is an automatic scholarship. Hence, no application is necessary.

Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship

The UWA Global Sporting Excellence scholarship is available to high-performing coaches, athletes, and officials. This scholarship is also available to international applicants.

Eligibility

The University of Western Australia scholarships include the Global Sporting Excellence scholarship. The eligibility criteria for this award are as follows:

• You must have received an offer letter to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at the university 
• Moreover, you must have secured a minimum ATAR 85.00, or a minimum WAM 65.00 or its equivalent
• Those taking up an approved International Academic Pathway program must secure a WAM equivalent of more than 75.00. 
• Apart from that as an athlete, you are required to register and play for a sporting club (of your chosen field) that is UWA-affiliated 
• Coaches are also required to register and coach within a UWA-affiliated sporting club that is UWA-affiliated. Similarly, registration is also mandatory for sports officials. 
• Additionally, you must be available/represent/officiate/coach at national and international events 
• Moreover, you are required to meet the UWA Student Athlete Program (SADP) classification (tier 3 or above)

Benefits

The benefits of this scholarship are as follows:

• You can receive a scholarship amount of up to AUD$48,000 for 4 years (Undergraduate), or 
• Receive an award of up to AUD$ 24,00 for two years. 

Application Process

To apply for the Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship, you need to arrange the necessary documents and follow the steps below:

• First, visit the official website of the university, and go to the Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship page
• Send in your Sport CV. This must outline your achievements in sports. You must also include referees from your previous coaches/state organisations. Your academic achievement will also be assessed separately.
• You need to select the Apply button to send these documents and start the application process.

International Student Award

Another excellent University of Western Australia scholarship is the International Student Awards. This award is given to support the diverse student community at the university. The scholarship assists students from different countries to pursue their career goals.

Eligibility

The eligibility requirements for the International Student Award are as follows:

• You must be a citizen of an eligible country. For example, India
• Additionally, you must have an international student status on an Australian student visa

• Get an award of up to  AUD 20,000 off  the tuition fees for 4 years of undergraduate study (the course must start in 2025), or 
• Receive an award of up to AUD 15,000 for up to 3 years for an undergraduate program starting in 2025, or 
• Get an award of up to AUD 10,000 as a tuition fee discount for 2 years for an eligible course of study in 2025.

No application is necessary for this scholarship.

Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship 

The RTP Scholarships are funded by the Australia Government to support international students in undertaking Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at UWA.

Eligibility Criteria 

The University of Western Australia scholarship includes the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship for International Students.

• Must be an international student HDR course at UWA.
• Must meet the specific academic and research requirements set by UWA.
• Application is through the UWA Graduate Research School.
