University of California Courses: Entry Requirements

  • If your secondary school, college, or university lessons were not in English, you’ll need to take an English language test.
  • Students should have completed their class 12 if they want to apply for an undergraduate course. If they are applying for a postgraduate course, then they must have a bachelor’s level degree.

  3. Create an account and start your application on the UC Apply online portal. You can apply to up to 6 of the 9 UC campuses.
  4. The application fee is $80 per campus ($95 for international students).

  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your UC Application ID number.
  7. Use this ID to track the status of your application and view admission decisions later.

For Freshman Students

If you’re applying for freshman you must:

  • Have completed 15 years of academic courses with a 3.4 GPA
  • Must meet other requirements specific to your country
  • Prove your English language proficiency

For Transfer Students

If you’re applying as a transfer student you must:

In the 7-course sequence, you must complete two transferable college courses (3 semesters or 4-5 quarter units each) focusing on English composition. It’s important to note that UC doesn’t recognize English composition courses from international universities if English is not the language of instruction.
