Q- Do you agree or disagree? Use details and examples to explain your answer. The government should forbid violence and bad language in TV programmes. Use specific reasons and examples in your answer.
Ans: I agree that the government should forbid violence and bad language in TV programs. Television is a powerful medium that has a significant influence on viewers, especially children, and adolescents at this impressionable age when everything is easily absorbed, and they have the tendency to imitate whatever is on the screen. Exposure to content that uses violence and bad language can make them believe that this sort of behaviour is acceptable in real life, contributing to the gradual development of aggression in their behaviour.
Moreover, television programs reflect the societal values and norms of a country. By allowing bad language and violence on TV, we are indirectly endorsing these behaviours and normalising them in society. This can lead to the desensitisation of social values and an increase in antisocial behaviour. In conclusion, it is important for the government to regulate the content that goes on TV programs to protect young audiences and uphold societal values. While freedom of expression is important, it must not come at the expense of promoting violence and bad language among children.
