TOEFL Daily Speaking Topic: Were you brought up in an urban area or a rural area?

Q. Were you brought up in an urban area or a rural area? If urban then, will you be comfortable living in rural areas for the rest of your life or vice-versa? Elaborate upon why and why not.

Ans: I was born and raised in an urban area. City life, with its charm, diverse cultures, opportunities, and conveniences, has become a familiar part of my lifestyle. If I were to settle in a rural area, I would miss the accessibility of essential services such as advanced healthcare, diverse educational opportunities, and a variety of entertainment options. The limited public transportation available in rural areas could pose a challenge, potentially slowing down the fast-paced life to which I am accustomed.

Additionally, career opportunities would be scarce. While I admire the peace and sense of community in rural areas, I don’t think I could make a permanent transition to living there. The absence of urban conveniences and resources, coupled with a reduced array of professional prospects, could significantly affect my overall well-being.
