The education minister of Jason Clare has announced that a new cap on international student enrollments will soon replace ministerial direction 107. More details will be shared in the upcoming week. Specifications of the new cap will be revealed soon. The number of international students in Australia has increased from 521,831 to 810,960. Ministerial Direction 107 was introduced to prioritize visa processing for students applying to low-risk institutions.

In July, it was announced that the application visa fees for international students by 125% bringing the total cost to A$1,600 per application. The final details of the policy are yet to be confirmed. The caps is expected to come into effect from 1st Jan, 2025.
