Quest University: An Overview

The brainchild of UBC’s retired president David Strangway, Quest University was created with a vision of providing students with “a rigorous and well-rounded education in the arts and sciences with a global focus”. Adding some modifications to Colorado College’s block plan, it requires students to complete 32 blocks to graduate from the institute. 

Quest offers only one degree program (BAS) for 5 interdisciplinary divisions: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.

Students don’t declare a major but design their course of study around a central guiding question they develop. Taking one intensive course at a time for 3.5 weeks allows for deep dives into specific topics. 

The BAS degree concludes with a major project called a “keystone project,” where students showcase their learning through research, creative work, or an internship.

Quest University Acceptance Rate: Application Deadlines

Since Quest University closed down in April 2023, the admission dates and deadlines for the 2024-25 session are not yet available. However, after receiving funds from Capilano University and the Government of British Columbia, the university has resumed its operations and is offering courses in the Spring 2024 intake. 1. Completion of senior year (Grade 12) in an accredited high school with a strong academic record.
2. A minimum GPA of C+ or higher.
3. Specific qualifications for different secondary school systems:
