Eligibility Criteria for Maitri Scholarship in Australia

The Australian University must be a registered Australian higher education provider under TEQSA and listed on CRICOS, and must be willing to nominate you. To be nominated for the scholarship, you must meet the basic eligibility criteria. It is listed below. The scholarship is applied to a university that will nominate you. 

  1. You must be an Indian student 
  2. Must be a new student in an Australian university. 
  3. You must be approved for a Higher Degree by Research (Master’s by Research or PhD) in a STEM-related field by the university.
  4. Must commit to participating in scholarship program events and activities.
  5. Must hold a valid Australian student visa or subclass 500 for the duration of the scholarship
  6. Agree to follow the scholarship program guidelines

Two Types of grants are available under the scholarship program. They are as follows:

Courses You Can Study Under the Maitri Scholarship Australia 

Nominated Scholars must have submitted their HDR proposal to take up postgraduate studies in an Australian university. Some of the courses you can take up to study are:

  2. Critical technology (incl. batteries) 
  3. Life sciences  
  4. Medical technology  
  5. Critical minerals, and 
  6. Clean energy solutions.

Documents Required for Maitri Scholarship in Australia

As an Indin student, you are required to submit documents for nomination. Once you are nominated, your university is also required to submit certain documents. These documents are provided below:

How to Apply for the Maitri Scholarship in Australia?

The Maitri Scholarship application process consists of two important steps.  This includes selection by your university and the Centre for Australia-India Relations (CIAR).  These steps are provided below.

Nomination by an Australian University

First, you must be nominated by an Australian University. You cannot apply directly. Direct applications from students are not accepted. Therefore, you must demonstrate your interest in studying at an eligible Australian university. Based on your academic merit, universities will nominate you. You can request that the university consider your application.

Application Through the University

After the university has nominated you, they will guide you through the specific application process. This can include completion of additional forms and providing additional documents. Ensure that you submit the application form before the deadline.
