The full form of GNM is General Nursing and Midwifery. The GNM paramedical diploma programme lasts three and a half years. GNM emphasises the importance of midwifery, community health care, and the community to nursing students. After passing the 10th-grade board exam, students can enrol in a GNM programme, which is followed by a two-year pre-university science programme. Another requirement for candidature is a minimum of 50% overall in the science stream of the second-year PUC. There aren’t many colleges that use entrance exams to determine who gets in.

What is the History of GNM?

Thomas Hospital in England was the first to establish comparable nursing programmes in India. St. Stephen’s Hospital in Delhi was the first in India to start a nursing training programme for women in 1867. Following that, the individual may pursue a B.SC. in Nursing, which is a two-year bachelor’s degree in nursing.
