Know The Real Holi story

How long has it been since we calmly sat with our grandparents and learned about the stories of all the festivals? Have you not been missing it all this while? The excitement and curiosity our little minds had at that time have been missing all these years under the bags and books of our college. 

A lot of you might already know about this story, but a lot of you might not. So let’s just refresh the old times and feel like the little kids listening to the story from grandma. 

So the festival of Holi is celebrated on the night of the full moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna. Though the stories vary in each part of the country, the most commonly known story is that Hiranyakashipu an evil king who had the boon of immortality from lord Vishnu which made him believe that he was the strongest, wanted everyone to preach to him instead of god. However, his son Prahalad who was a believer in god denied upon preaching to his dad which made Hiranyakashipu furious. He tried several ways to kill his son like poisoning him, pushing him into the valley, etc but Prahalad remained unscratched due to the blessings of god on him. Tired from all the attempts Hiranyakashipu asked his evil sister Holika, who was immune to fire to take Prahalad and sit in the pyre of fire and kill Prahalad. 

A pyre was created on the night of the full moon and as decided Holika took Prahalad in her lap and sat into it. Magically the fire burned down Holika into ashes and Prahalad came out untouched making the win of good over evil. Later, Hiranyakashipu was killed by lord Vishnu himself taking his boon and evil life away from the goodness of the world giving the world a reason to celebrate the good.

Holi Khele Raghuveera 

A family song from another benchmarking movie Baghban Holi Khele Raghuveera is a typical song that can not be missed from the Holi playlist. The song was also sung by Amatiab Bachchan along with other singers in the year 2003 and like the songs above, this has also been in the list of most played songs on Holi since the date of release.
