Factual group discussions can be used in various settings, such as academic institutions, research organizations, and business meetings. Opinion-Based Group Discussion

Opinion-Based Group Discussion also known as a debate group discussion lets participants share and exchange their opinions, thoughts, and experiences on a given topic. This type of discussion takes place in various settings such as educational institutions, community gatherings, and on social media platforms. These discussions are quite useful for controversial topics when individuals have different perspectives to share and learn from each other.

Case-Study Based Group Discussion

In a case-study-based group discussion, participants analyse and discuss a specific topic or case study presented to them. This case study can be based on real-life events, hypothetical scenarios, or both. During the group discussion, the participants get to analyse the case study, identify the problem and propose solutions. 

This type of case-study-based group discussion is carried out in educational settings, such as business schools, law schools, and medical schools. They can also be carried out in professional settings such as management consulting and law firms.

Finally, in an abstract group discussion, all the participants are given a broad and general topic without any specific details or constraints.
