As you know how much I love hunting for unique finds and bargaining like a Pro. Well, the markets of Delhi did not disappoint me. Our first stop was the iconic Chandi Chowk, a maze of narrow streets which was packed with shops selling everything from embroidery, to jewellery and spices. As soon as we stepped into the market, we were welcomed with the sounds of vendors shouting for their wares. Meanwhile, how can I forget the honking of rickshaws and the chatting and laughter of locals. Everywhere it was pure chaos, but in the most delightful way. I could not resist picking up a few vibrant sarees, stunning bangles and aromatic spices that I can’t wait to experiment with in the kitchen. But the true highlight of Chandni Chowk was the street food. We indulged in the most incredible butter chicken, and hot jalebis and even tried our hands in fresh sugarcane juice. Every bite was a blast of flavours, and I am already missing the unforgettable authentic taste. Of course, no Delhi trip would be complete without visiting some most iconic historic landmarks of Delhi. We spent an afternoon in the stunning Lotus Temple, a breathtaking beautiful Baháʼí House of Worship that resembles a blooming flower. The fine architectural details surprised me and I could not feel a sense of peace and calmness. Furthermore, we also made a pit stop at the iconic India Gate, a memorial place to pay our tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. As we strolled around through the beautiful gardens of the monument, I could not help to feel the pride and honour of India´s rich history and sacrifices. I could go on and on about the countless other experiences I have in this vibrant city but I have some stories for when we will meet in person. I cannot wait to share more of its magic with you. | 101, Pitampura, Near Vodafone Store Anand Vihar Delhi – 10098 12 January 2024 Dear Shweta, I am back from my trip to Delhi and let me tell you it was an absolute educational trip of history, culture, and unforgettable experiences. I know you are a person who loves to explore new cities, cultures and details. It is for this reason that I cannot wait to share the details with you. The first thing we have to talk about is Qutub Minar. The incredible tower stands tall at over 70 metres and it is one of the most iconic landmarks of Delhi. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I was awestruck by its fine carvings and the magnificent construction. Can you believe it was built in the 12th century and is a true testament to the architectural genius of the era? Our guide shared many fascinating stories about the history of the building. We have also tried the interesting fact of wrapping around the entire base of the monument to fulfil our wish, but it all goes to waste. Next, we went to the Red Fort, a massive building constructed with a complex of sandstone buildings. The place served as the resident place of the Mughal empires. Stepping through the grand Lahori Gate, I felt like I had been transported back in time. The walls of the fort are stretched as far as the eye can see, and every piece of the building is adorned with beautiful carvings and stunning details of architecture. We spent hours wandering through the palaces, gardens, and courtyards. It was easy to imagine the lavish lives of the emperor who once called this palace home. Of course, my trip was not complete without visiting the Humayun Tomb. The stunning monument was built in the year 1569 – 70 and is considered a forerunner to the Taj Mahal and is a true architectural masterpiece. Furthermore, our guide also shared the romantic story behind the construction of the Tomb. Shweta, I could go on and on about the countless other monuments and the historical sites that I have visited but I am saving some stories from when we met in person. Just for the time know that Delhi is a true treasure of architecture, wonders, and cultural richness.
