IGNOU BA Economics is an undergraduate program offered to students who possess all the required eligibility criteria. This 3-year program is divided into 6 semesters, where a wide range of subjects related to economics are taught, such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, etc.

- Discipline Specific Electives (DSEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each (24 credits).
- Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECCs): 2 courses of 4 credits (8 credits).
- Skill Enhancement Courses (SECs): 2 courses of 4 credits (8 credits).
- Generic Electives (GEs): 4 courses of 6 credits each ( 24 credits)
Since 2019, IGNOU has changed its admission procedure for UG and PG courses, and now offers admission based on the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), which was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) has offered more flexibility for students to apply for admission throughout their academic program.
