UGC NET 2023 Eligibility FAQs

Q.1. Who are eligible for the UGC NET 2023?

Ans: All those candidates who have secured at least 55 per cent in Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear to take the exam. 

Q.2. Are there any age criteria for appearing in the UGC NET?

Ans: In order to appear for the UGC NET, the body has not set any age limit for the Assistant Professor category. Candidates can appear for the exam at any age. 

UGC NET 2023 Application FAQs

Q.1. When will the online application form for UGC NET December 2023 open?

Ans: UGC NET is conducted twice every year (June and December). As of now, the timeline of the online application for December hasn’t been released. 

Q.2. What is the last date for submission of the application fee?

Ans: Since a timeline has not been released, therefore the last date for the submission of the application is also not out yet.

UGC NET 2023 Syllabus FAQs

Q.1. What is the syllabus?

Ans: In UGC NET, two papers are conducted – Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabus for both these papers was last revised in June 2019. The exam is conducted for 83 subjects and there has been no change in the syllabus ever since then.

UGC NET Paper 1 consists of topics like General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. This paper is mandatory for all candidates. 

Q.2. What is the marking scheme?

Marking Scheme of UGC NET 2023:
Each question carries two marks.
For every correct answer, the candidate will get 2 marks.
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. 
No marks will be awarded for questions unanswered/ un-attempted.
To answer, the candidate must choose an option from the list.
In case, the question is incorrect and the question is dropped then the candidate will be awarded 2 marks for attempting the same.

UGC NET 2023 Exam Pattern FAQs

Q.1. What are the passing marks for UGC NET 2023?

Ans: According to the UGC NET 2023 notifications, all candidates belonging to the general category must have atleast 40 per cent passing marks. While candidates from the reserved category must have 35 per cent passing marks.

Ans: The updated syllabus for the UGC NET will be published on the official website in the December cycle. 

UGC NET 2023 Selection Process FAQs

Q.1. What is the selection process for UGC NET 2023?

Ans: In order to get selected for the UGC NET 2023, the candidate will have to follow the following steps:

Fill out the UGC NET application form 2023
Appear for the exam
Qualify for the exam
The selection process for UGC NET begins
Only 6 per cent of the candidates who appear for the exam qualify for the exam and go on to become Assistant Professors. Whereas, only 1 per cent of the candidates go on for the Junior Research Fellowship. 

Q.2. How many marks are needed to qualify for the UGC NET exam?

Ans: To qualify for the UGC NET 2023 exam, it is very crucial for the candidate to get minimum marks. For the general category, the applicant must have a minimum qualifying marks which is 40 per cent. While the reserved category must have at least 35 per cent.
