Significant modifications to the JEE Main exam pattern were announced by NTA last year, and they will be implemented again this year. The JEE Main 2024 B.E/ B.Tech paper will have a total of 30 questions from each subject or section in accordance with the new exam pattern. Twenty of the thirty questions will be multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while the final ten will be numerical value questions. Candidates can choose to answer five out of ten questions that are based on numerical values.

Highlights of the JEE Main Mathematics Pattern

There will be two kinds of questions in the JEE Main 2024 Mathematics section: multiple-choice questions and numerical values. HIghlights related to JEE Main mathematics pattern are:

  • There will be four possibilities in the multiple-choice questions, but only one right answer.
  • Candidates must enter a numerical value as an integer or decimal number in order to answer the non-multiple-choice questions (MCQs) or numerical value questions.
  • Correct answers will receive four marks, while erroneous responses will result in minus one marking.
  • Negative marking won’t apply to non-multiple choice questions.

Tips for Preparing for Mathematics in JEE Main 2024

The Gujarat Board has made a question bank available to applicants for JEE Main, NEET, and GUJCET. Candidates can find the questions for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology that are covered in the exam syllabus. Candidates can visit the Gujarat Board’s official website to get the question banks.

The question bank is available to candidates in both Gujarati and English. 

Important Advice for Candidates

  • Prohibited Items: During the exam, no candidate may bring any items that are prohibited. If this is done, it can result in his or her candidature failing.
  • No electronic devices, including personal calculators and cell phones, are allowed in the exam room.
  • It is not necessary to bring any documents, graphs, or tables inside the exam room.
  • The JEE Main 2024 Admit Card is a crucial document that needs to be brought to the exam centre with legitimate picture ID verification.
  • Aadhar cards, passports, college IDs, PAN cards, DLs, voter IDs, and employer IDs are examples of acceptable picture identity documentation.
  • Admit cards will only be accepted if the candidate’s picture and signature are readable.
  • Candidates are required to arrive at the testing location 60 minutes prior to the exam hour.
  • There is no need for candidates to carry any pads from home because they will be given rough sheets for rough work. Before starting any rough work, you must write your name and registration number on the document. Following the examination, these sheets must be given back to the invigilator.

Will there be distinct JEE Main Mathematics papers for B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning programmes?

No, the mathematics paper for each of the three papers will be identical.

Is 120 in JEE Mains an unacceptable score?

A good score is defined as JEE Main score of 120 or higher, which corresponds to a rank of 15000–35000. With this score, applicants can get into the top NITs and IITs.

What does the JEE Mains 75 percent rule mean?

Candidates must place in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards or achieve a minimum score of 75% in their class 12 board exams in order to be eligible to sit in the JEE Mains.
