The full form of NIELIT is National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology. Established in 1994 and headquartered in New Delhi, this institute was previously known as DOEACC Society as it is a society that offers training to individuals at different levels in the field of Electronics and Information Technology. NIELIT was founded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology which is why NIELIT comes under the administrative control of MeitY. The motto of this autonomous Scientific society is ‘Opportunities To All’. To impart skills to individuals there are 47 centres of NIELIT located all over the country. 

Courses Offered by NIELIT Centres 

NIELIT offer many courses to impart skills in the field of Information Technology. The courses are divided based on various levels – O’ Level (Foundation), ‘A’ Level (Advance Diploma), ‘B’ Level (MCA equivalent), and ‘C’ Level (M-Tech level). NIELIT offer other IT-related courses like BCC (Basic Computer Course), CCC (Course on Computer Concept) and various other short and long-term courses in non-formal fields like Computer Hardware Maintenance (CHM-O/A level),  Information Security, ITeS-BPO(Customer Care/Banking), ESDM, etc. These courses are offered along with the Post-Graduate level (M.Tech) programs in Electronics Design & Technology, Embedded Systems etc. These courses are not offered by universities/institutions in the formal sector. 

Projects Undertaken by NIELIT

NIELIT has showcased its ability to take on a wide range of projects which include software development, consultancy services, R&D projects, turnkey projects in office automation, website development, etc. MeitY has designated NIELIT as the nodal implementing agency for the development of the National Population Register (NPR) initiative of the Registrar General of India (RGI), which will cover the population of 15 States and 2 Union Territories.
