Situated in the third-largest city of Hungary, the University of Szeged is a higher learning institution founded in 1872 and then re-established in 1921. The university comprises of 12 faculties and around 16 research groups that are supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The university has worked extensively in the field of research covering over 700 areas of study at its 19 doctoral schools. Further, it is home to 21,000 students from all around the world and offers more than 51 full-time undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in a plethora of fields. As per the Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, the University of Szeged was ranked at 203rd-300th position and awarded at the first position in the Hungarian national ranking. Moreover, as per the QS World University Ranking, it came under 501-550 and was ranked 101-150 international in the subject area of Modern Languages. The university budget was estimated at around $220 million in 2014. Also, the University of Szeged is home to over 21,000 students and 2,200 faculty staff members. It is funded by the government of Hungary and has been recognised by research institutions across the globe for its critically acclaimed works in the field of Science.
