About the University

History, Affiliations and Rankings

The University of Southern Queensland is a medium-sized, regional university based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia that was established in 1969 as the Darling Downs campus of the Queensland Institute of Technology. In 1970, the college offered study programmes to rural Queenslanders as well as overseas students. In 1971, it became the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education, then the University College of Southern Queensland in 1990 and finally the University of Southern Queensland in 1992. The University is officially recognized by the Department of Education and Training of Australia. EQUIS, a global accrediting organisation, has affirmed Business School's status as a top international business school. In the World University Rankings 2022, it ranks #401-500 and #116th in the Young Universities Rankings 2021 by Times Higher Education. The university also ranks #701-750 in the QS World Rankings for 2022. In the QS WUR Rankings by Subject 2022, it is ranked #451-500. Furthermore, as per the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022, the university is ranked #607.
