The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) is located in Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain. This university was founded in 1978. The student body of the university operates in English, Catalan, and Spanish in a culturally rich and diverse society. UIB has been funded by the Government of the Balearic Islands since 1996. The University of the Balearic Islands consists of nine faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Enterprise, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy, the Faculty of Philosophy and Art, the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Tourism. The university also offers Higher Polytechnic School, where students can learn Computer Engineering, Technical Architecture, Telecommunications Engineering, Technical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Specialty Telematics, Specialty Industrial Electronics and Mathematics. The UIB belongs to the Xarxa Vives d’University and Grupo 9 networks of universities. It has signed cooperation agreements with most Spanish universities and Research Centres in Europe, Africa, America and Asia. Students from the United States and the United Kingdom can study at the UIB through the International Students Exchange Programme. The UIB also has University Schools Adscritas, private establishments offering university degrees recognized by the UIB( which are valid throughout Spain).
