Shoreline Community College is situated in the city of Seattle, a picturesque Pacific Northwest region of United States. Started as an evening college in 1964, it now houses more than 10,000 students every year across its multi-disciplinary programs. Further, as Seattle is home to companies such as Microsoft, Adobe and Amgen amongst others, it offers students ample opportunities for industrial experience. Popular major options include liberal arts and humanities, family studies and consumer sciences, automotive mechanics, and manufacturing engineering. Moreover, the college has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and its nursing, dental, automotive and medical lab technology programs have specifically been accredited by respective commissions. According to the college website, a select few of its graduates have successfully gone on to pursue courses in elite universities like Cornell, Boston, Berkeley Universities amongst others. The college foundation offers several scholarships to support students including the Hannah Heltsley Memorial Scholarship, Beta Sigma Phi Visual Arts scholarship, Ina Knutsen scholarship and Linda Lee Hale scholarship. Shoreline Community College has been honored by a number of awards including but limited to the Toyota T-Ten Award, Bellwether Award, Power Player Award and the King County Best Place for recycling Award. Joseph J. Tyson (Bishop of the Diocese of Yakima) and Bob Hasegawa (US Legislator) are some of the names on the notable alumni list of the college.
