Will Rensselaer require SAT or ACT scores for Fall 2023 applicants?

Accepted Answer

Rensselaer has renewed the test-optional admissions policy for another year. Due to the recent suspension of SAT and ACT testing, any student who applies to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an undergraduate in the fall of 2023 will be able to choose whether or not to submit SAT or ACT scores.

I was not able to take my IB/AP exams in 2020. How will this impact my application review?

Accepted Answer

If you were unable to take your Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) exam(s) in 2020, this will not affect your admission decision. AP/IB examinations are not required for admission (but may be used for credit).

Question 3

I submitted my application to RPI. What’s next?

Accepted Answer

Once, the institute starts processing applications (typically in October), within a few days you will receive an email (to the email address that you provided on the application) that contains your Rensselaer ID number (RIN) and login information for your online application portal where you may check the status of your application.

Question 4

When will I be notified of my admissions decision?

Accepted Answer

The institute does not have rolling admissions for first-year fall applicants at RPI, so they release decision notifications for each applicant pool on a certain date. Notifications are made through your application status portal. Be sure to ensure you have access to your portal well before the notification date.

Question 5

What documents do the students need to submit to complete their application?

Accepted Answer

Students may have to submit the following documents themselves, using their application portal: optional resume; first quarter/trimester grades (Early Decision and Early Action applicants); International Student Financial Statement/supporting documentation.
