The MSc Analytics is a single integrated course of study taught exclusively to NC state’s students and designed to produce well-rounded analytics professionals. The curriculum is a carefully calibrated and continually updated mix of applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, and business disciplines. The program is a cohort-based learning experience structured entirely around teamwork, with personalized coaching to improve team performance. In this program, students learn by tackling genuine analytics problems with data provided by industry and government sponsors and using leading tools such as SAS. It has a practical orientation. It does not dwell on theory and is not intended to be a prelude to doctoral study. The time-to-completion of this program is 10 months.

The Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science is a research-oriented degree. The MSc with thesis degree has two components: completion of a designated curriculum, and completion and defense of a thesis that describes original research. For the Computer Science program students have to successfully complete 31 credits. A student registered full-time, nine (9) to twelve (12) credits per semester, typically completes the required credits and thesis within two years. The Master of Computer Science program is a terminal professional degree program. The degree is based on course work and attendance at colloquia. No research, thesis or comprehensive examination is required. MCS students are normally self-supported, and some enroll on a part-time basis.

North Carolina State University offers novel interdisciplinary graduate degree programs in biomanufacturing. Through their various degree, minor, and certificate programs, students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment along with a comprehensive education in the principles and theory of bioprocessing and biomanufacturing. The program home is the 82,500-gross-square-foot, $50-million Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC). This one-of-a-kind facility features a simulated-cGMP* pilot plant capable of producing biopharmaceutical products and packaging them in a sterile environment, in addition to laboratories with bench- and intermediate-scale bioprocessing equipment. The Master of Science in Biomanufacturing is a research-based degree that requires a written thesis in addition to the completion of advanced hands-on courses in BTEC's simulated cGMP facility. The Master of Biomanufacturing curriculum combines BTEC's advanced biomanufacturing courses with an increased focus on bioscience-focused MBA courses; a thesis is not required. Both degrees offer students the choice of upstream (fermentation) or downstream (purification) concentrations to accompany courses in global regulatory affairs, protein characterization techniques, case studies in cGMP manufacturing of influenza vaccine, case studies in monoclonal antibody production, biocatalysis, biomanufacturing research, and an industry internship. Both degrees also include professional skills training in effective oral, electronic, and written communications for both technical and business careers. All MBA courses are taught by faculty from the Jenkins Graduate School of Management, a part of NC State's Poole College of Management.

The Jenkins MAC Program can be completed in two semesters. Students going through recruiting are required to take one to two classes in the summer preceding or following the academic year. Three to four MAC classes will be offered over the summer each year along with several MBA elective classes. MAC program is preparing graduates to be tomorrow’s leaders in this important and versatile field. The Master of Accounting program is accredited by AACSB.

The MPA is a 42-hour program that focuses on practical and problem-solving skills and emphasizes public service values — including efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and accountability. Master of Public Administration program is 2-year, on-campus program. It is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. MPA students will complete 24 core hours and 18 elective hours. Full-time students typically complete the degree in two years whereas part-time students take from three to five years depending on work and personal obligations. Most classes are taught in the evening to permit full-time students to participate in internships and to accommodate the schedules of part-time students who work in public policy or nonprofit fields

MSc in Mechanical Engineering is a 2-year on-campus program. It is offered on a full-time basis. The program is consists of Two options Thesis and Non-Thesis. A student pursuing the MSc degree (thesis option) is required to complete 30 semester hours of graduate credit. Students are required to have a Plan of Work on file and a thesis committee composed of an advisor and two other members. A final oral examination (thesis defense) is required.

A Master of Engineering Management (MEM) provides students with leadership skills that apply to technical industries, like engineering. Students will build connections with peers, professors, and professionals who have similar experiences and goals. Students in the program may come from different engineering fields, but they all have a STEM background. Students will graduate with their MEM prepared to take on leadership roles within engineering, technology, and scientific organizations. A full-time MEM takes as few as 12 months to complete. The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree meets students' needs, first, by deepening their science and engineering abilities. Second, by broadening their critical management skills. National employer demand for masters-level engineering managers increased by 59 percent between 2013 and 2017. North Carolina employer demand grew 64 percent during that same time frame. Engineering management degrees provide students the skills necessary to manage and succeed in today’s complex engineering environments and put them in high demand.

The Master of Science in Biological and Agricultural Engineering (MS) is intended for students interested in advanced research in biological engineering. The MS degree is a thesis-based degree for those individuals who want to pursue a research-oriented degree beyond the Bachelor of Science. Students are required to write a thesis and defend it at the final oral examination. A minor is optional. Program objectives: Enable students and practitioners from many disciplines to study the technical and engineering aspects of the design and analysis of environmental systems with an emphasis on the watershed scale. Provide students the opportunity to develop a solid foundation in engineering systems targeted at environmental issues, particularly related to non-point sources and their impact on water quality at the watershed scale. The Textile Engineering Program is an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on diverse science and engineering principles. Textile Engineering students develop a unique background, which allows them to pursue undergraduate research, summer internship experiences, and design projects ranging from artificial blood vessel development to the design of novel water filtration units for remote villages to structures to protect astronauts from radiation while on the moon. The program offers small class sizes with personal attention from faculty. In addition, in the last three years, graduates have had nearly 100 percent placement into full-time employment or graduate school. Compared to the rest of NC State, the Wilson College of Textiles has the highest percentage of students participating in its scholarship programs. Indeed, more than 50 percent of all textile engineering students receive scholarship support! The TE curriculum provides a broad base of fundamental engineering courses as a foundation for studies in textile engineering. There are three concentrations in the TE Program Information Systems Design: Whether one is controlling the latest machines or managing a company's inventory and supply chain, computer information systems make the world go. This concentration provides the student with the use of database information systems and is linked with Industrial Engineering, which allows most of the students to minor in IE while some choose to minor/double major in Computer Science. Product Engineering: This concentration focuses on the design of new and innovative products and is the most multi-disciplinary and flexible. Students may concentrate on specific areas of interest including bio-medical materials, sports textiles, and composites. Some students in this concentration choose to double major in Biomedical Engineering while others minor in Material Science. Chemical Processing: This concentration is designed to combine both Textile and Chemical Engineering to develop chemical process improvement engineers for industries dealing with fibers and polymers.

The Aerospace Engineering degree program prepares its graduates for careers in aircraft and space systems design, analysis and manufacturing. Aerospace engineering is the application of science and engineering principles to the design, development, and implementation of systems or vehicles that travel above the surface of the earth. These vehicles may include low-speed propeller-powered aircraft, high-speed jet-powered aircraft, remotely piloted vehicles, micro air vehicles, hovercraft, and helicopters, as well as rockets, spacecraft, space stations, planetary rovers, and such specialty equipment as heat shields and other protective and deployment devices. The design of these vehicles and systems is both difficult and challenging because they must operate reliably and efficiently in harsh environments. Aerospace engineering is intimately involved in the design, manufacture, control, and operation of these systems coupled with a consideration of environmental, economical, ethical, and social issues.

Specialties within the Civil Engineering curriculum include: Structural engineering — Planning, design, and operation of buildings, bridges, and special purpose structures such as towers, cranes, stadiums, industrial plants, and construction materials. Transportation engineering — Planning, design, and operation of highways, airports, seaports, mass transit systems, traffic control systems, and material transport systems. Geotechnical engineering — Design and planning of foundations, dams, tunnels, roadbeds, and other facilities where earth and rock are engineering materials. Water resources & environmental engineering — Planning, design, and management of projects for water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, urban drainage, pollution control, ground and surface water quality management, and solid and hazardous waste disposal.

The Bachelor of Arts in Economics (B.A.) is a broad and flexible program of study. The major course work for the B.A. in Economics includes courses in economic theory, mathematics and statistics as well as courses in advanced, applied economics. The program provides for substantial flexibility, so students may tailor their studies to their particular interests and long-term goals. Both economics degrees require that students complete 120 credits towards the degree. All Economics majors are subject to the university and college's residency requirements. Additionally, students in the Economics majors (B.A. or B.S.) must earn at least 1/2 of their required economics (EC) credits while enrolled in the curriculum, and students must complete at least one-half of the required economics credit hours (EC courses) at NC State University.

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering at NC State University offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree. The degree is nationally accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. Students complete the standard set of engineering first-year courses, which include courses in the humanities, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and computing. Students may apply to join the Department of Computer Science as degree-seeking students via the CODA process. The Computer Science curriculum teaches students the skills needed to understand, design, implement, test, and deploy computer systems and software systems. Core courses provide a foundation for all students in programming languages, data structures, software engineering, computer architectures, the theory of computation, the basics of building secure software and systems, teaming and communication, and the social and ethical dimensions of the practice of computer science. Computer science electives are chosen in consultation with advisers, usually starting during the junior year. These electives allow exploration of more advanced areas among them artificial intelligence, cloud computing, compilers, computer architecture and multiprocessors, computer graphics, cryptography, database management systems, data science, development and operations, educational technology, file organization and processing, human-computer interface design, multimedia technology, networks, privacy, security (computer, network, and software), sensor systems, social computing, and web services. The Department of Computer Science offers two undergraduate concentrations (Game Development and Cybersecurity) and two undergraduate elective tracks (Security and Entrepreneurship). Concentrations appear on transcripts and tracks are recognized by letters of completion. All Computer Science majors must complete a team project in Senior Design. Projects under the auspices of the department’s Senior Design Center have industrial sponsors, so student teams gain experience working jointly with industry representatives to achieve project goals. Senior Design teams are expected to solve a technical computing problem while effectively communicating their work and process to various audiences.

The department's professional activities include teaching, research, and extension functions. The program provides an educational, research, and informational center in food science for North Carolina and the nation. The department also houses two research centers, the Southeast Dairy Foods Research Center and the Center for Advanced Processing and Packaging Studies. Course offerings and research opportunities are available in the following areas: chemistry-biochemistry, engineering, microbiology, nutrition, and processing technology. The strategic directions of the faculty and staff are in the areas of food safety and foodborne disease prevention; food manufacturing and entrepreneurship; instructional innovation and effectiveness; and, foods for health and well-being. NC State’s program attracts students from a variety of academic backgrounds, including those with degrees in agricultural science, biochemistry, and engineering. The Bachelor of Science in History allows students to integrate a broad base in science and math with a history education. Students obtain both the analytical and writing skills that come from a history major and the technical proficiency that comes with coursework in a STEM field. This combination is very helpful in a wide variety of careers, including law, business, and public policy. This degree is particularly well suited for students transferring into history from a science or engineering major, or combining studies in a science or engineering discipline. The curriculum offers flexibility in courses and electives. Students work with their advisor to design a concentration in a single area of science and technology. The concentration can be interdisciplinary, or fulfilled by a minor or a second major in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline. The North Carolina climate is conducive to the production and use of a wide variety of horticultural crops and services. There are two majors options in Horticultural Science, Science and Technology. The Science option is intended for, but not limited to those students who feel they will go to graduate school or pursue a laboratory based career. The Technology option is intended for those students who plan a career in the plant-related business, teaching, work at the county extension level, in crop production, or other applied area after they graduate.

Nuclear engineers work in nuclear systems research, design, development, testing, operation, environmental protection, and marketing. The Bachelor of Science program prepares graduates for positions in industry, national laboratories, or for graduate study (consult the Graduate Catalog). The curriculum incorporates basic sciences and engineering, with emphasis on mathematics and physics, followed by course work in nuclear science and technology. Design concepts are introduced in numerous nuclear engineering courses throughout the curriculum to provide an integrated educational experience, cap-stoned by senior nuclear projects involving reactors and radiation systems. Attention is also given to the efficient utilization of energy resources and to the environmental aspects of nuclear energy. Computers are widely used throughout the curriculum. The Construction Engineering curriculum is designed for the student interested in the planning, design, direction, and management of construction projects. It includes the core course requirements in mathematics, the physical sciences, and the humanities and social sciences. After exposure to engineering fundamentals and engineering design of facilities, the curriculum provides a series of specialty courses in construction engineering related to the analysis, design, and management of the construction process. The curriculum is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the building, residential, highway, and heavy construction industry.
