History, Affiliations and Rankings
Middlesex University's history dates back to the late 1880s, when two educational institutions in north London, St Katherine's College and the Hornsey School of Arts and Crafts, opened their doors. Middlesex Polytechnic, which was formed in 1973, would absorb both. In 1992, the status of 'University' was bestowed upon Middlesex by Royal Assent. It is currently largely recognized as a top-tier international higher education provider with a strong academic reputation and a high percentage of marketable and successful graduates. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai has granted Middlesex University Dubai a license (KHDA). The UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education audits Middlesex University Dubai. The Middlesex MBA was named the best MBA in Dubai by Forbes Middle East Magazine in their March 2012 issue. The Times Higher Education World Rankings 2022 placed it among the top 500 universities globally, and QS World University Rankings 2022 placed it in the band #701- #750.

Middlesex University Dubai is the internationally acclaimed Middlesex University's first overseas campus. The campus, which first opened its doors in January 2005, now has over 4,000 students from over 100 countries and provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a wide range of subjects. The Campus is housed in four buildings in Dubai Knowledge Park and features large classrooms and study places. The Dubai Knowledge Park was established in 2003 as a hub for international learning institutions. The campus has cutting-edge classrooms and lecture halls, as well as conference rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, engineering labs, computing facilities, and recreational and leisure facilities. Middlesex University Dubai is continually pushing the limits and winning national and international recognition and accolades for its remarkable achievements. Middlesex University Dubai has been given a license by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai (KHDA). At the Forbes Middle East Higher Education Awards 2019, Middlesex University Dubai was named 'Best Media Centre.' The designation was given in honor of the University's acclaimed Media School's exceptional courses, achievements, and facilities. Despite the fact that the university is just a few years old, its students have already set international standards. It is the only university in the world to provide a face-to-face LLB (British Qualifying Law) degree. It received the award of University of the year 2019/20) (UAE) by iStudy Awards.
