History, Affiliations and Rankings

Founded in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic Institute in the UK, the London South Bank University has been enhancing the lives of students, businesses, and the community in south London ever since. The university's initial objective, which was to "advance industrial competence, general knowledge, health, and well-being of young men and women," is still important to its mission today. The university's students will graduate with the skills they need to handle the difficulties of today's industry thanks to LSBU's practical and vocational approach. In 1992, The Polytechnic was granted university status and named South Bank University. On September 1, 2003, it was ultimately granted its present name - London South Bank University. The university has academic affiliations with European University Association which represents over 800 higher education institutions in 48 countries and serves as a platform for collaboration and information exchange on higher education and research issues. Moreover, the university ranks between #801-1000 in the QS World University Rankings 2022 and THE World University Rankings 2022.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The LSBU campus, which is located in the heart of London, boasts first-rate infrastructure and superb academic, recreational, and residential facilities. It features cutting-edge labs such as forensic labs, the Spatial Analysis and Informatics Lab (SAIL), Psychology labs, the Acoustics Lab, the Digital Architecture Robotics Lab (DARLab), a Pub Lab, a Chemical lab, interview rooms, a Physiology suite, and the Therapeutic Radiography VERT Lab. The Student Centre, Perry Library, Clarence Centre, and Keyworth Event Theatre are all located on campus. It has a variety of on-campus housing alternatives that are both handy and pleasant. A fitness suite, training zone, weights room, dance studio, and a sports hall with facilities for football, netball, basketball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, and volleyball are all available at the Academy of Sports. Nursing students are trained at the university's Havering campus in East London. Economics, Architecture, Business, Arts, Education, Engineering, Media, Law, Nursing, Design, Psychology, Sciences, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, and more are among the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and apprenticeships offered by LSBU. The institution offers excellent practical and quality education and seeks to improve students' employability and present them with opportunities.

Accomplishments and Alumni

The institution was voted the Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards in November 2016. LSBU received a "Silver" rating in the first 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework examination, which rated the quality of undergraduate teaching across UK institutions and assigned a bronze, silver, or gold ranking. Celebrities, politicians, business leaders, athletes, and more have all graduated from London South Bank University. The most known celebrities who attended London South Bank University are at the top of this list of notable London South Bank University graduates, which is informally arranged by significance. Some of the prominent persons on this list did not necessarily receive a degree from London South Bank University, therefore this directory isn't entirely made up of graduates.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Over 18,000 students attend the institution, including undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral students, and professionals. There are nearly 2,000 foreign students from over 130 nations on campus. The LSBU Group is one of the country's most diverse educational providers, with a long history of putting EDI at the centre of its efforts. We don't talk about Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion on our website because we have to; we're happy to declare that EDI is woven into our own DNA. We'd like to extend a warm welcome to you as a new member of the LSBU family. Discrimination based on age, ethnicity, religion/belief, sex, handicap, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, gender identity, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, caregiving position, and social class is also prohibited at the university. This implies that LSBU will seek to remove individual, institutional, and structural inequities within the University and Group on a proactive basis.
